Lieutenant Nun at Boise Contemporary Theater

Boise Contemporary Theater to present a staged reading of Juan Pérez de Montalbán’s Lieutenant Nun November 4 at 7pm. Based on the real life of Catalina de Erauso, the play tells the story of a transgender Basque woman who fought as a conquistador in Peru and Chile from 1600-1617. Upon her return to Europe, she was given a Papal Dispensation from Pope Urban VIII to remain cross-dressed and live as transgender person. The play was translated by Mac Test and a member of Diversifying the Classics, Marta Albalá Pelegrín. Read more on this project from Boise Weekly!
