Don Quixote onstage in NYC and online, plus more upcoming DTC events!
Our Hispanic Golden Age Classics series, a collaboration with Red Bull Theater and Repertorio Español, continues with our newest translation – Guillén de Castro’s Don Quixote de La Mancha! This unique take on Miguel de Cervantes’ masterpiece brings his iconic characters to life, in an adaptation based on the captivating Cardenio tale that inspired Shakespeare’s lost play.
On Tuesday September 26 at 4:30 PST, a free online seminar, “Tilting at Windmills: Cervantes, Shakespeare, and the Cultural Significance of Don Quixote” will introduce the play and its contexts.
On Monday October 2 4:30PM PST/7:30PM EST, Red Bull will premiere our translation as a staged reading, in-person in NYC and simulcast online. The recording will be available streaming until October 8th.
On Tuesday October 10 6PM EST, Repertorio Español’s staged reading of the original Spanish play will close the series, in-person in NYC only.
