The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs is coming to Minneapolis as part of A Guthrie Experience, a summer theater intensive that brings graduate students of acting and filmmaking to the Guthrie theater for workshops and performances. A Guthrie Experience asks its participants to rethink their artistic relationships to classical theater, and DTC is excited to see Ana Caro’s comedia, a revenge plot with an equally playful and emotional interrogation of gender, included in this project.

Program director Maija Garcia will direct this reading of Courage. Her rendition, called Valor after the original Spanish title (Valor, agravio y mujer), features UCLA MFA students Noelle Franco and Oyemen Ehikhamhen as Leonor and Estela respectively. If you find yourself in Minneapolis this summer and want to catch this not-to-be-missed performance of Valor, which will be performed August 3-7, 2022, you can read more about the Guthrie’s 2022 season and buy tickets at https://www.guthrietheater.org/shows-and-tickets/2021-2022-season/valor/ . We’re thrilled that Valor is part of A Guthrie Experience’s efforts to expand the classical canon, and we wish the best of luck to Garcia, Franco, Ehikhamhen and all the artists engaging Caro’s timeless work.
