THE COMEDIA IN TRANSLATION
OUR TRANSLATIONS
The UCLA Working Group on the Comedia in Translation and Performance brings together academics, playwrights, directors, and actors to translate and promote the comedia. Since January 2014, we have translated one play a year, with additional plays translated by individual members of the workshop. All Working Group translations are open-access and available for download here. We welcome the use of our translations in performance and are happy to consult as dramaturgs.

Our print publication series with Juan de la Cuesta Press includes translations by the Working Group as well as a bilingual anthology of monologues for actors–90 Monologues from Classical Spanish Theater, and a collection of verse translations by actor, playwright, and scholar Dakin Matthews.
We are especially grateful to the Pine Tree Foundation for their continued support that has permitted us to fund and expand our virtual library of translations.
Our translations are free to use for educational and performance purposes with attribution to Diversifying the Classics, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
