On October 17th, DTC was delighted to host a workshop at the Spanish language children’s bookstore, LA Libería, in Los Angeles. Our director, Barbara Fuchs, led a reading of El animal de Hungría by Lope de Vega, adapted for kids by DTC member Isaac Giménez. This book is part of our children’s series, Cuentos que son teatro, published by Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Funded by the University of California’s Alianza MX, the series forms part of our Clásicos Americanos initiative, which works to build bridges through the shared tradition of Hispanic classical theater.

Thank you to all of our participants in this past weekend’s Cuentos que son teatro event who, with their art and their enthusiasm, made it such a memorable experience. A big thank you to the team at LA Librería. Their work in community-building and their dedication to arts programming for children is inspiring. And finally, thank you to Professor Gabriela Villanueva and the UNAM team for sharing their insights for leading a workshop based on our series.

Our children’s books are available for purchase at LA Librería’s online store: https://www.la-libreria.net/shop/
