DTC’s Beast of Hungary at Los Osos High Featured on ABC7LA
On May 2nd, members of Diversifying the Classics attended the West Coast premiere of our translation, The Beast of Hungary by Lope de Vega. Our long-time collaborator Randy Shorts directed an excellent production at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga.
After the performance, DTC, Shorts, and the cast were interviewed by ABC7LA News to discuss Lope’s impressive body of work, the privilege of bringing Beast to California, DTC’s collective translation process, and more. The production starred Los Osos students Evlynn Domenech as Rosaura, Ella Collins as Teodosia, Ian Montana as Felipe, Amanda Lee as Faustina, and Giuseppe Galioto as Primislao in standout performances. It also featured extraordinary costumes by Liz Shorts and lighting design by Xander Shorts. DTC looks forward to collaborating with Los Osos in the future and to seeing what the cast and crew do next!
A big thank you to Randy Shorts for bringing The Beast of Hungary to life on the West Coast stage and to Channel 7 for featuring our work.
