Historias amorosas no tan ejemplares o lo que pasa en el sarao se queda en el sarao

by Paola Izquierdo

About the play

A wild, days-long party has just come to an end and Cristina is stuck cleaning up. As she sweeps, she entertains herself and us, the audience, with tales of love, lust, humor, and sometimes heartbreak.

A one-woman show based on the writings of the celebrated Spanish author María de Zayas y Sotomayor, Historias amorosas shows why she is considered a feminist icon of the Hispanic Golden Age. Music by female composers from the same period accompanies this intimate reflection on storytelling that reaches across the ages.

Based on Novelas amorosas y ejemplares and Segunda parte del sarao y entretenimiento honesto by María de Zayas y Sotomayor.
