About the play
Cristina is in charge of cleaning up after a three-day, entertaining party. As she sweeps, she recounts some stories of love… and horror. A one-woman show based on two novels by María de Zayas Sotomayor: “Novelas amorosas y ejemplares” and “Segunda parte del sarao y entretenimiento honesto”–works that were ahead of its time and remains terribly relevant today. It also includes music by female composers in XVI and XVII centuries: Francesca Caccini, Bárbara Strozzi, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Mary Harvey “Lady Dering,” Ana Bolena and anonymous works from the same period.
Historias amorosas will be in Spanish, with English translations provided.
